Subcutaneous implant instrument

An implantable loop recorder (ILR) monitors a patients heart rate and rhythm continuously and stores them in its memory. Working with Biomedical Engineers and Medical professionals, we developed new instrument concepts for inserting ILR devices in a minimally invasive way. The final design allows for improved pocket formation and positioning of an implantable medical device. Design ideas were developed through sketching, CAD, and testing performed by cardiologists using 3D printed physical prototypes.
